Family Valentine’s Day Activities

Valentine's Photography

When it comes to Valentine’s Day, or any other holiday, families have a harder time finding activities that will make everyone feel included. If you’re in this position, like so many others, we have some great ideas for you to consider this Valentine’s Day.

Think Chocolate
Valentine’s Day is all about chocolate: chocolate covered strawberries, hearts filled with chocolate, chocolate-themed desserts. So why not include that in your activities for Valentine’s Day? Whether it be brownies, double chocolate cookies, or turtle cakes, getting your kids out from behind their tablet screens and into the kitchen is a great way to make something together and try something new.

Game Night
Use Valentine’s day as an excuse to grab your favorite games and have a family game night. Whether you like board games or card games, a family game night will help everyone turn off their devices and socialize face-to-face. Have each member of the family pick their favorite game, and take turns deciding which game to play next.

Deliver Valentine’s to a Nursing Home or Shelter
If you want to get out and give back with your family this year, creating your own Valentine’s and donating them to a nursing home or shelter is a great way to do so. Creating simple cards using colored construction paper, markers, stickers, and any other creative elements you can think of. To go the extra mile, you can include small treats taped to your cards for residents to enjoy.

Get Outside
Valentine’s Day doesn’t need to be about staying inside all day. Get outside for a nature hike, or if it’s snowy, you can go sledding or ice skating. Not only will it get you outside for some exercise, but it’ll give you all an excuse to grab a cup of hot chocolate to warm up with.

Make it a Date
Who said date night couldn’t be with the entire family? Using Valentine’s day as an excuse to pick a new restaurant to go to and get dressed up can be a fun family date night that everyone will remember. You can take your kids somewhere new they’ll enjoy, or go somewhere they’re familiar with. After dinner, finish off the date with a movie everyone will enjoy.

No matter what you and your family end up doing, don’t forget to capture the memories with a few photos. If you have a special event coming up and want a photographer there to catch those special moments, contact Songs of Life Photography today.
