Consider Giving the “Gift of Time” this Holiday

Gift of Time
“It’s not what’s under the tree that matters, it’s who’s around it.” - Charlie Brown

Of all the things we value in life virtually everything is unlimited. We can always make more money, buy more food, and get more followers Facebook. But time? It’s a rare gem because we only get a set amount of it, and therefore should be used wisely. No need to dwell on this, it’s a simple fact. Instead, let it serve as a reminder when you’re fretting about finding the right gift for a loved one, or trying to figure out just what to give a coworker for the holidays, think about giving them the most precious gift you have - your time.

Deck the Halls
Visit a Christmas tree farm. The scent of the pines, crisp cool air, and hot chocolate or cider will make for a memorable experience. Bring home a tree, a wreath, or simply some greenery for decorating around the house. This is a great way to turn a chore into a weekend of family fun!

Christmas Cookies FamilyCreate Together
This is a perfect opportunity to start, or continue, a holiday family tradition. Whether it’s baking and decorating cookies, building a gingerbread house, or constructing a snowman - these simple, yet heart-warming activities are fun for all ages. The time spent creating something together will help your family bond over the holidays - without breaking the bank.

Play Games
Host a good old-fashioned game night. Invite friends, relatives, and neighbors - the more the merrier! Unplug, gather around, and dust off that old Scrabble board. Or, if board games aren’t your thing, why not get the family team bowling shirts made and take the gang to a local bowling alley. No matter what you decide to play, as long as you’re laughing with your loved ones, everyone wins.

Give Back as a Family
Volunteering during the holidays doesn't have to solely mean helping out in a soup kitchen. There are many different ways that you and your family can give back this holiday season, from donating toys or gently used clothing, helping package and organize food in a local food bank, or purchasing Christmas gifts for families in need.

Life gets busy, especially around the holidays. With all the hustle and bustle, it’s easy to forget that the greatest thing about the season is having the chance to spend valuable time with loved ones, show appreciation for one another and overall, give thanks.
